Privacy
Plume is designed so that your files stay with you. This page explains precisely what happens when you use the site.
Your files are never uploaded
Every compression and conversion runs inside your browser, on your own device, using WebAssembly. Your files are read from your device, processed in its memory, and the result is handed back to you for download. No file, file name or file content is ever sent to a server, to Plume or to anyone else. Once the page has loaded, the tools even work without an internet connection.
Because nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored. There is no retention period and nothing to delete. When you close the tab, the files Plume was working on are released from your browser’s memory.
No account
Plume does not ask for an account, an e-mail address or any personal information.
Metadata in your images
By default, Plume removes EXIF metadata from the images it produces. This data can include the date, the camera or phone model, and the GPS location where a photo was taken. The orientation of the image is kept correct.
Audience statistics
To know which pages are useful, the site uses Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, self-hosted at stats.majally.com. It does not use cookies and does not track you across sites. It counts page views, with general information such as the page visited, the referring site, the country, the browser and the type of device. It never receives your files, their names or their contents. Because no cookie is used, no cookie banner is needed.
Hosting
The website files (pages, scripts, styles) are served by a web host, which, like any web server, technically processes your IP address to deliver the pages. Your files are never part of this.
Publisher and contact
Plume is published by Juliano Majally, independent developer, Nice, France. For any question about this page or about your data, write to juliano@majally.com.
